@ 338 The contempt of unbelieving Children of Israel for Moses 4:153-155

4:153 The People of the Book ask you to bring down upon them a Book from heaven. Of Moses they asked greater than that, they said to him, 'Show us Allah openly.' And a thunderbolt took them for their evil doing. Then they took to themselves the calf, after the clear proofs had come to them, yet We forgave that and We gave Moses clear authority.
# يَسْئَلُكَ أَهْلُ الكِتَابِ أَن تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَاباً مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ فَقَدْ سَأَلُوا مُوسَى أَكْبَرَ مِن ذَلِكَ فَقَالُوا أَرِنَا اللَّهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذُوا العِجْلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ البَيِّنَاتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَن ذَلِكَ وَآتَيْنَا مُوسَى سُلْطَاناً مُّبِيناً 153
